Accessible transport in Broadmeadows

Broadmeadows sits in the City of Hume, which has one of the largest NDIS participant populations in Victoria. It is also one of the few suburbs where the hospital, the shopping centre, the station and the council services all sit within a couple of kilometres — so a lot of our Broadmeadows work is short, repeat, local travel rather than long one-off trips.

Where we take people in Broadmeadows

  • Broadmeadows Hospital 35 Johnstone Street, Broadmeadows Outpatient clinics, medical imaging, dialysis and the older adult mental health unit. Buses 484, 901 and 902 stop out the front, but none of them solve getting a wheelchair from your front door to the ward.
  • Broadmeadows Central 1099–1125 Pascoe Vale Road Shopping, Centrelink and Medicare in one trip.
  • Melbourne Airport (T1–T4) about 10 km north-west One of the shortest accessible airport runs in Melbourne — useful when you are travelling with a chair and luggage.
  • Northern Hospital Epping 185 Cooper Street, Epping For specialist clinics and procedures that Broadmeadows does not run on site.

Trips we run most from Broadmeadows

  • Outpatient and imaging appointments at Broadmeadows Hospital

  • NDIS day programs and community access

Paying for your trip

Most Broadmeadows passengers pay one of three ways, and often combine them: NDIS transport funding (we invoice self-managed and plan-managed participants' plan managers directly), the Victorian MPTP card (50% of the fare up to $60 a trip, and it stacks with your NDIS funding on the same trip), or paying yourself at an upfront fare quoted before you book. Full detail is on our NDIS transport page.

Which vehicle will come

We send the vehicle that suits the trip — the Wheelchair Taxi if you travel in your own chair, a sedan or SUV for shorter trips, the People Mover for groups. Capacities are on the fleet section of our home page, or tell us what you need and we will advise.

Broadmeadows wheelchair taxi questions

Do you cover Broadmeadows?

Yes. Broadmeadows is inside our standard service area and we run wheelchair accessible vehicles there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 1300 12 05 05 or send a booking request and we will confirm.

Can I stay in my own wheelchair?

Yes. Our vehicles are hydraulic lift equipped with four-point restraints, so you board and travel in your own chair — manual, powered or scooter. Tell us the type and size when you book so we send a suitable vehicle.

Can I use my NDIS funding or MPTP card?

Yes to both. If your plan is self-managed or plan-managed we can invoice your plan manager directly. We also accept the Victorian Multi Purpose Taxi Program card, which pays 50% of the fare up to $60 per trip — and you can use it alongside your NDIS transport funding on the same trip.

Can my carer or support worker travel with me?

Yes, at no extra seat cost. Tell us how many people are travelling when you book so we allocate the right vehicle.

How long does it take to get from Broadmeadows to Melbourne Airport?

It is roughly 10 km, so in normal traffic it is a short run — usually well under half an hour. We build in extra time for loading a wheelchair and luggage, and for the accessible drop-off at the terminal. Tell us your flight time when you book and we will set the pickup from that.
