Accessible transport in Epping

More of our northern work ends at Epping than at any other single address. The Northern Hospital draws patients from Hume, Whittlesea and Mitchell, so we are often collecting from Craigieburn, Lalor, Thomastown or Mill Park and dropping at Cooper Street — then doing the return run hours later.

Where we take people in Epping

  • Northern Hospital Epping 185 Cooper Street, Epping Emergency, surgical, maternity, dialysis, outpatient clinics and specialist appointments. The hospital is large, so tell us which entrance or clinic you need and we will drop you at the right one rather than the main doors.
  • Epping Private Hospital and Medical Centre 230 Cooper Street, Epping Directly across from the public hospital, and easy to confuse with it — we confirm which one you need when you book.
  • Pacific Epping 571–583 High Street, Epping Next door to the hospital precinct, so shopping and an appointment often combine into one trip.
  • Epping Plaza and the Epping medical precinct High Street, Epping Allied health, pathology and specialist rooms clustered around the hospital.

Trips we run most from Epping

  • Outpatient, surgical and specialist appointments at the Northern Hospital
  • Dialysis, including early starts and late finishes
  • Discharge transport home after a hospital stay
  • Day procedures at Epping Private
  • NDIS appointments and community access around the Epping precinct

Paying for your trip

Most Epping passengers pay one of three ways, and often combine them: NDIS transport funding (we invoice self-managed and plan-managed participants' plan managers directly), the Victorian MPTP card (50% of the fare up to $60 a trip, and it stacks with your NDIS funding on the same trip), or paying yourself at an upfront fare quoted before you book. Full detail is on our NDIS transport page.

Which vehicle will come

We send the vehicle that suits the trip — the Wheelchair Taxi if you travel in your own chair, a sedan or SUV for shorter trips, the People Mover for groups. Capacities are on the fleet section of our home page, or tell us what you need and we will advise.

Epping wheelchair taxi questions

Do you cover Epping?

Yes. Epping is inside our standard service area and we run wheelchair accessible vehicles there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 1300 12 05 05 or send a booking request and we will confirm.

Can I stay in my own wheelchair?

Yes. Our vehicles are hydraulic lift equipped with four-point restraints, so you board and travel in your own chair — manual, powered or scooter. Tell us the type and size when you book so we send a suitable vehicle.

Can I use my NDIS funding or MPTP card?

Yes to both. If your plan is self-managed or plan-managed we can invoice your plan manager directly. We also accept the Victorian Multi Purpose Taxi Program card, which pays 50% of the fare up to $60 per trip — and you can use it alongside your NDIS transport funding on the same trip.

Can my carer or support worker travel with me?

Yes, at no extra seat cost. Tell us how many people are travelling when you book so we allocate the right vehicle.

Which entrance at the Northern Hospital do you drop at?

It depends on where you are going — the hospital covers a large site at 185 Cooper Street and the main entrance is not always the closest to your clinic. Tell us the department or clinic name when you book and the driver will take you to the nearest accessible set-down rather than leaving you with a long push.

Can you wait and take me home after my appointment?

For short appointments we can often wait. For longer ones it usually works out better to book the return separately, because hospital appointments run late more often than not. Either way, call us when you are ready and we will get a vehicle to you.
